A total of 19,062,461 students are enrolled in U.S. colleges including 4-year colleges, community colleges, and trade schools.

By race, there are 121,117 native american or Alaska native students (0.64%), 1,322,241 asian students (6.94%), 2,262,542 african-american students (11.87%), 3,859,420 hispanic students (20.25%), 50,817 native hawaiian or other pacific islander students (0.27%), and 8,854,512 white students (46.45%).

South Dakota colleges have the highest rate of white students of 77.20% and Hawaii colleges have the lowest rate of white students of 16.21%.

Mississippi colleges have the highest rate of black students of 34.46% and Montana colleges have the lowest rate of black students of 0.94%.

Hawaii colleges have the highest rate of asian students of 27.96% and Wyoming colleges have the lowest rate of asian students of 0.98%.

New Mexico colleges have the highest rate of hispanic students of 48.96% and Mississippi colleges have the lowest rate of hispanic students of 3.38%.
