In U.S. colleges and universites, 1,366,044 students are 18 years old or younger(9.02%), 3,604,681 students are 18 or 19 years old (23.80%), 3,156,371 students are between 20 and 22 years old (20.84%), 2,306,119 students are between 22 and 24 years old (15.22%), and 1,808,055 students are between 25 and 29 years old (11.94%).

1,697,846 students are between 30 and 39 years old (11.21%), 775,776 students are between 40 and 49 years old (5.12%), 420,342 students are 50 years old or older (2.77%).
